Familiarity breeds Contempt

Sweeti Pi and Kevin, two shy girls who needed more space to express themselves that the bathroom would allow. Due to this need for expression they did not have the slow introduction to each other that would normally happen. Kevin was unceremoniously placed into the bedroom with Sweeti Pi and fingers were crossed.

Initially they coexisted, sort of. They were both so terrified of the change in situation that no one ate for a few days and bathroom duties were withheld until absolutely necessary. Sweeti Pi reverted a little to the hissy scratching kitty she was originally, but still came for petting and comfort. Kevin took up residence in the window sill. There was some hissing but nothing too strenuous.

A few weeks later as they both began to be more comfortable the hissing and growling increased as Kevin attempted to leave the window sill, or as Sweeti Pi wanted to sit on the sill. Puffy tails, increasingly aggressive behavior and Sweeti Pi's increasingly comfortable forays into the living area finally decided me to separate the two.

Sweeti Pi is still learning the best napping places in the living area and has discovered the joys of headbutting me from the back of the couch. Kevin is more active in the window sill. In the end pushing those comfort levels rather than forcing them to co-habit was a better way to go. Hopefully once Kevin is roaming the bedroom, if Sweeti Pi hasn't been adopted by then, they can meet and establish a friendship.
