Watching the small moments where the cats start to trust is always encouraging. Big moments are great but usually it's the small ones that one celebrates.
Watching them think hard about what is safe or not. Is it worth the reward? You can see the thoughts going through their mind based on their body language and looking into their eyes. Eventually they decide yes or no.
Recently Sweeti Pi has decided that being petted on the bed is a good thing. In fact she insists on it. Meowing until I relent. I can't move or she leaps off the bed, soon to return. The other day she displayed a huge show of trust. She showed me her belly. I could move my petting arm but nothing else, but touching her belly was not within her comfort zone. I have the nip to prove it.
