It's easy to tell when a kitten is going through a growth spurt. The amount of food eaten doubles, instantly. Maybelle has always eaten more than her adult counterparts but now she sprints to the food dish in the morning wolfing down sometimes before I even get the bowl filled. Once her belly is filled she will wander, skipping and jumping away. She eats so much more right now, no longer patient if and when I sleep in. She wants breakfast and she wants it now! In deference to her growing needs the food bowl gets filled as soon as I get up in the morning, sometimes before I leave for work, as soon as I get home from work and again before I go to bed none of these things happen when a growth spurt is not occurring. And as soon as it started it will stop.... until the next one.
