Once again I am the proud foster parent of an accidental litter. This time because a pet store sold two "boys" to a first time rat owner. We all know what happens when an intact boy and an intact girl get put in the same cage together. That's right, BABIES. These ones were born Dec 10, 2017 and are named after African American Inventors.
The papa and his 9 sons have come to live at my place. They are gorgeous as you can tell. They are becoming less scared every day and two of them are horrible beggars for treats which of course makes it easier to get them to become friendly. No one fear bites, and once out of the cage they will hang out though it is obvious that they would rather be running around in their cage with their brothers.
I always seem to forget how much growing boys eat. And with 10 of them, papa is still a young lad himself, the food dish needs to be under constant surveillance. However this does help with training as the boys are more likely to be open to treats as bribes. The photos shown here are what we call identification shots. They show faces and any identifying marks such as belly or back marks. The glamour shots come later where we can showcase their absolute cuteness.
