You have to love it when scared rats take in into their heads to escape when you want to clean the cage. It really derails, often several hours of, your day. Mostly because I do not want them eaten by any resident cats. Thankfully, from the not being eaten perspective, they find the most awkward, least accessible place to run to. This of course means that I have to move furniture while trying to make sure that I don't leave them another avenue of escape.
Previous to this most recent escape I had decided that I was finally going to get around to removing the not so beautiful but oh so practical cardboard guards secured by painters tape that keep animals from getting under certain pieces of furniture or within the unused radiators. I am very glad that I did not get around to it or it would have taken so much longer to get Frank back into the cage.
