Sneezes are never good

Three of the boys, all the PEWs ( Pink Eyed White), had Mycoplasma pulmonis. Before you get too worried all this means is that have a cold. Thankfully it did not spread to the others, though it can. This is the exact reason that we keep the rats in quarantine. So twice daily medication, to rats that don't really want to have medication. Giving meds can go either way. Either they LOVE and fight over the syringe full of tasty medicine or they completely HATE it and I have to force feed them as they soon realize when it is hidden in food, regardless of the kind of food.

Two of the boys responded very well to the medications. After two weeks they were no longer sneezing. The final boy, Frank Arthur Carter, stubbornly decided not to respond as well as the others. Then add the low air quality we had for a few weeks and his sneezing continued. After a week and a half of only one sneeze he started up again. So, while his brothers and father are off to Ratapalooza this weekend he will be going to a new home ( in case the rat show doesn't end in adoption) where he will be getting extra meds and maybe a vet visit.
