Kanta, aka Closet Cat, and I have begun to come to an understanding. As long as she gets treats I can gently pet her while we hang out in my bedroom closet. If treats are provided, she will not lunge at my hand, mouth open (but not biting).
This week I made the unfortunate decision to spring (summer) clean my bedroom. EXCEPT for the closet. There was no way I was going to put her through that stress. Wallee was hanging out in the multilevel scratching post so he got a blanket thrown over him and he was good, and I closed the closet door so Kanta would not be disturbed.
As Kanta has shown no desire to leave the closet and I want Dewdney, WIlson and Wallee to cohabitate I have been lax on keeping the screen door firmly shut allowing the three of them to make their own way to each other. This was unfortunate decision number two. Under the cover of darkness Kanta made her move and left the closet. I discovered this Thursday morning and after carefully checking the window screens to ensure there are no holes I knew she was still in the house somewhere. I use my camera to see if she is under things.
I finally found her, of course in the most horrible to get to location, under the cat cupboard. Most people would not be worried about losing a cat in the house, but I cannot be that person. Dewdney eats all food no matter where it is so I knew that Kanta would not be eating unless I could get her back into the bedroom.
Lesson learned, spring cleaning can lead to more mess.
Also, in case you couldn't tell Dewdney and Wilson came back from their adopted home. The adopter decided she couldn't deal with their initial unfriendliness nor has the patience to try to get them to love her.
