Two weeks ago we undertook another rescue. This time a group called the Vancouver Rat club called us in for help. Thankfully they did most if not all of the trapping and we took in 16 new rats of various ages, over the course of 1.5 weeks. Though they had less scars and bites than the last bunch but had been exposed to rat poison. Thankfully only one died. Everyone is on Vitamin K daily as it helps with coagulation and dealing with the poison. Even slow acting poison takes no more than a week to kill so everyone is well past their death date. But some do have the sneezes.
They are becoming less shy every day, dislike taking their meds and dislike eating vegetables. Eggs, Cheerios and Turkey are a huge hit. Not all the rats are here, one other foster has taken the 4 adult boys. After quarantine at least a few will go to new foster homes and 2 are already adopted. As 2 new rats came in on Saturday QT had to start again, so it will be 3 weeks until anyone leaves.
